On the afternoon of January 12, 2024, the School of Foreign Languages held the “Second Topic Selection and Argumentation Meeting for the 2024 National Social Science and Ministry of Education Project Application (literature, linguistics, etc.)”. Three experts in the fields of literature and linguistics were specially invited to provide on-site guidance: Professor Huang Libo from Xi'an International Studies University, Professor Yuan Xiaolu from Xi'an Fanyi University, and Professor Zhang Yating from Shaanxi Normal University. Su Rui, the deputy dean of the school's research department, and some teachers attended the meeting.
Under the chairmanship of Deputy Dean Su Rui, eight teachers including Cai Hongyan and Yang Qian successively reported on their proposed research topics, including the title, topic approach, innovative points, and previous research results. The three professors provided individual comments, and offered constructive suggestions from the perspective of review on the overall logical arrangement, wording, and previous achievements of the proposals. They emphasized the importance of the topic selection, namely how the topics align with national policies and contribute to the construction of Chinese discourse systems.
Deputy Dean Su Rui made a concluding speech, and expressed gratitude for the experts' guidance and suggestions. She encouraged teachers to take heed of the experts' advice, and carefully refine their research topics based on their own expertise, in preparation for further argumentation.
