Vice Secretary Kang Lianke gave a lecture on safety and stability for freshmen in classroom 2J201 at 8 am on Sep.1, 2010. Zhao Zhengping, Vice president in charge of administration, Anhui, secretary of Youth League Committee, Student Instructor Wang Haibo and Cao Zhi attended the lecture.
Firstly, Mr. Kang extended his welcome to freshmen and introduced them the outline of the university. Then he reported the latest swindle cases and alerted the freshmen to prevent bank cart and short message swindle. Besides, he reminded them to comply with school rules and pay attention to fire and burglar preventing. Secondly, he pointed out that college life was an important part of one’s life, during which a person was getting fully developed in physic- psych mechanism. Freshmen, had just calmed down after the college entrance examination, confronted with transformation of goal, thinking mode, life style, and interpersonal communication. It is necessary to set up new goals, achieve transformation to maturity in thinking mode, foster the ability of independent living, social ability, and ability of relieving pressure from interpersonal communication and study. Thirdly, he pointed out, as English majors, freshmen should improve their competence including professional capability, language proficiency, and the ability of communication. Beside, active participation of department activities for more experience is with special meaning for students who has energy spared while ensuring their academic performance. Lastly, he advised to schedule scientifically, to be self-disciplined and make full use of fine educational resources.
The second speaker Zhao Zhengping, vice president, introduced the outline of SFL, its institution setting and its function especially those offices that closely related to school work. The lecture was considered an orientation for freshmen.
