On the afternoon of Dec.1 , professor Zhu Gang, the doctoral tutor and Dean of the School of Foreign Languages in Nanjing University, did an academic report called Foreign Language Professional Teaching and Research in the Senior interpretation simulation laboratory. The report was chaired by Cui Yaping, Dean of SFL in NWU, and 160 students and teachers attended the meeting.
Pro. Zhu gave a detailed introduction about building Research Universities and the Foreign Languages Institutes. Through reviewing the development of Foreign Language Courses in Nanjing University, he introduced the development status quo of China's foreign languages major. In his report, Pro. Zhu described the relationship between foreign language teaching and research, analyzed the Chinese culture aphasia in foreign language learning, pointed out the shortcomings of modern foreign language teaching, and shared the experience of foreign language teaching reform. Finally, he introduced research directions and methods of translation work by telling his own experience as a translator in the United Nations. After the report, Pro. Zhu made an interactive communication with teachers and students.
As one of the academic reports held in the celebration of 110th anniversiry of NWU, this report was warmly welcomed by students and teachers.
